IK18: Micky Schelstraete naar tweede titel
In de zwaartse klasse, van de vandaag verreden Indoorkampioenschappen voor pony’s, de ZII voor D/E pony’s, ging het goud naar Micky Schelstraete met de ervaren Elin’s Noncisdador. Al in de eerste proef van de Felix Hippische Juristen Prijs had de combinatie een mooie voorsprong opgebouwd en die stonden ze niet meer af. Micky Schelstraete maakt het familiefeest bij deze KNHS Indoorkampioenschappen compleet. Vorige week won Micky al de titel in het M2 kampioenschap voor de pony’s en moeder Jonna won de titel in het ZZ-Zwaar.
“In de eerste proef reed ik een beetje tam, maar de tweede proef ging het veel beter en was ik heel tevreden met hoe het ging. Ik hoop dit jaar internationaal fijn te rijden en goed te scoren en dan ook op het EK fijn te rijden, dat zou wel heel cool zijn”, vertelt de kampioene. Over haar 16-jarige topper vertelt Micky enthousiast “Hij is enorm knap en hij doet altijd zijn best voor je en laat je nooit zitten. Ik heb ook echt heel veel van hem geleerd. Hij kon alles al en heeft mij heel veel geleerd en daar heb ik ook op mijn andere pony’s veel aan.”
IK18: Micky Schelstraete achieving a second title
In the toughest category of the Indoor Championships for ponies which was ridden today, the ZII category for D/E ponies, the first place was for Micky Schelstraete riding Elin’s Noncisdador. Already in the first test of the Felix Hippische Juristen Prijs the combination took the lead and managed to keep it. Micky Schelstraete completes the family achievings at the KNHS Indoor Championships. Last week Micky won the M2 Championship for ponies and mum Jonna won the title in the ZZ-Zwaar category.
“In the first test I played it safe, however the second test went much better and I was satisfied with the result. I hope to do well at International level and that I achieve good scores and then a good performance on the European Championship. That would be cool.” the champion tells us. About the 16-year old top pony Micky is letting us know: “He is incredibly handsome and he always does the best he can and never lets you down. I have learned a lot from him. He actually knew most of the tricks and taught me a lot. Which is of use to me when it comes to my other ponies.”

In Liempde kregen juryleden Van der Harst en Boomaars een aantal fijne proeven voor ogen. Vooral in de Lichte Tour werden er knappe scores gereden. Het hoogste resultaat was voor Jonna Schelstraete. Met haar Grand Charmeur, de Apache-nazaat waarmee zij een week eerder Nederlands kampioen in het ZZ-Zwaar werd, liet zij 72,13% noteren in hun debuut in de Prix st. Georges.
“Grand-Charmeur liep heel mooi door de draftour heen, al had hij iets spanning op de uitgang bij A”, steekt de Nederlands kampioene van wal. “In de galoptour hadden we een paar kleine foutjes en in de uitgestrekte stap had hij wat moeite om gelaten te stappen. Grand-Charmeur kan heel goed stappen, maar miste in deze proef wat de gelatenheid. Overall was het een goede proef en ik denk dat ik zonder deze foutjes een heel goed Lichte Tour-paard heb. Ik weet dat hij nog heel veel meer kan.”
Aanleg
De mogelijkheden van de Apache-zoon lijken in ieder geval groots. “Grand Charmeur piaffeert al aan. Al van jongs af aan toont hij veel aanleg voor de verzameling en daarin gaat hij heel mooi zitten. De wissels speelt hij mee. Als ik een rij vierers, drieërs en tweeërs kan, wil ik natuurlijk ook de eners proberen en dat ging meteen al makkelijk.”
Samen met dochter
De amazone licht toe niet heel ver vooruit te kijken, maar geeft wel aan dat zij van de zomer graag met haar dochter Micky weg wil naar internationale wedstrijden. “Ik ben ook nog in de race voor het WK voor Jonge Dressuurpaarden. Dat ligt heel dicht op het EK voor pony’s, dus dat wordt goed plannen.” Welk kampioenschap heeft haar voorkeur als het niet te combineren valt? “Ik neig naar het pony-EK, maar voor mezelf vind ik het WK ook erg aanlokkelijk. Gelukkig duurt het nog even voordat het zomer is”, lacht de amazone.

In Liempde the jury members Van der Harst and Boomaars were shown several fine tests. Especially in the lichte tour there were some good scores achieved. The highest result was for Jonna Schelstraete. With her Grand Charmeur, the Apache-descendant with whom she became a Dutch champion in the ZZ-Zwaar category she received a 72,13% score in their Prix st. Georges debut.
“Grand-Charmeur performed a beautiful trot, although there was some tension at A”. the Dutch champion tells us. “In canter we had a few minor errors and in the extended walk there were some difficulties to walk patiently. Grand-Charmeur has a very good walk, but in this test he was missing this. Overall the test went well and I think that without these errors that we have a great Lichte tour horse. And I know that he can do more than this.
